Sounds like there are a few people on here who bowfish and are now taking their show onto the heavywights. Anybody want to offer tips on getting a gator? Any tips on how to get a big gator?
Any secrets learned, before or after it became legal-- uh huh-----.
Some guys spot and stalk, trying to ease up on em. Some guys try to call them in.
Any help would be appreciated. I pulled first week in Florida and I'm getting my gear together now. Thanks, Spring Tom

Where did you pull the tag in florida? I pulled Lake Jessup the last 2 years. I posted a couple of tips I learned past couple trips. They are in the gator hunting threadon this forum, but it's good to hear you're getting the gear together, cause I can tell you that it's the most important part. A trolling motor and a good way to stick'em. I'll be using a crossbow this year!

I have my bowfishing bow tuned way down for fish, so I'm going with my old PSE hunting bow with a Muzzy Gator Getter Arrow with a line and float as my first shot at the gator. I hope we can follow him and then slowly pull him up so we can harpoon him or if he gets close enough bang him.
My buddy who has done lots of spear fishing wants to shoot him with the spear gun rather than a harpoon. Either way, the goal is to get a strong line in him so we can fight him and wear him down. Once they are worn down they are "easier" to get close to the boat for a bang shot.
My question is- for those of you who have fooled with big gators- I have called in lots of little gators, but are there any secrets anyone can pass on. We always make the sounds of baby gators and here they come. Big gators eat baby gators so they respond just like a buck would to a doe bleat- Hey there is something I want of there, in this case it's dinner not love.
I pulled Lake Dora/Beauclair, which is right by Mt. Dora, a part of the Harris Chain, better known for it's bass fishing.
