What's an automatic knife? Do you mean a switchblade or a spring-loaded knife?

I don't know what automatic knives are either.
Although I've seen "automatic knives advertised" as low as 15 to 20 dollars on my hotmail acct.I just delete them without looking into to it further cause they are probably crap.
I'm all for saving money, but I never comprise on exchanging dollars over quallity and warrenty.I'm wiling to investigate it and help you out
I just need to know what you plan on using it for so I can determine what steel the knife should be made from and more important what criteria makes this thing a good automatic.
Also give me an idea of how much your affordable spending is.

A switchblade (also known as an automatic knife, switch, or in British English flick knife) is a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened by a spring when a button or lever on the grip is pressed.

I would prefer a s30v, damascus, 420c steel. $100 is my budget.

The buck rush is spring assisted. Holds an edge really well and costs about half of your budget. Kershaw scallion is another that works good as well.

Good to know.Switch blades are illegal in Canada (country where I live) so are Japanese throwing stars.I really really wanted a few of them as a kid.But that is here not in the US which expalains why I've never heard of an automatic knife. However I will do my best for you.

they are called Assissted opening knifes and SOG makes good ones that you can get for a fair price on Grey market like ebay or something. they are not the same as a switchblade

Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout.

auto assist, been carrying it for 5yrs or so. The tension bar in it broke a yr ago, a quick email to Kershaw (lifetime warrenty) and was asked 2 questions. You want us to ship you a new one and install it yourself or have it sent to us and we will replace the bar and sharpen it also.

only thing they wont ship is blades, you gotta send your knife in for that.
