I just bought a Lymans GPR and I think I would like to try Browning the barrel. Can anyone here give me some tips on products and techs for a nice looking job?

scroll down to the builders bench click on (problems browning parts )all the info is there,I just finished a browning job using LMF chemical and the results was super the barrel and parts are excellent .Track of the wolf sell the laurel mountain forge chemical to brown the parts .

My wife got me that movie for my birthday.

LMF chemical browing is excellent stuff to use,just remember to use as little as possiable just to dampen the metal and set aside,used dungarees pants will be excellent to card the scaling brown rust off the barrel and parts.I found out apply a couple of coats first before scaling.

Laurel Mountain Forge browning solution is great stuff. Easy to use, works well, and gives a beautiful brown.

I always used Birchwood/Casey's "Plum Brown". It works good. Degrease the barrel ,slightly heat the barrel or parts up. Then simply take a clean rag w/ the Plum Brown and wipe it on the heated parts.
