Instituted several tips from this board. Thanks
Finally got around, winter weather and all, to shooting out my hunting BP Traditions 2000 Centennial. Loaded it in December for the BP season with a 50 & a 30 grain pellet. with a Hornady XTP 240 grain sabot. Was glad that it went off yesterday and at 50 yards I was in the 10. Several reasons for the wait. First I did not want to clean for 1 shot thus I waited to do some real shooting. Second this is the end of season cleaning and I give it the deluxe treatment and it takes several hours. I tried some shockwaves and did not like them as they shredded the paper there was a perfect hole but there were 5 or 6 ½ inch tears radiating out from the hole. What’s with that? The XTPs did real good since on this boards advice I dropped to 80 grains of pellets. Also since I had some rougher parts to the barrel when pushing the sabot down especially at the muzzle I did as suggested on this board and got a new brush and brushed the barrel vigorously fifty times or so. I think I never really got all the plastic out before. Pushed a sabot through and it slid even and easier. Never realized how much plastic fouling occurs as heard here.

Hey Striper, good to hear that you are out and about making some smoke!
Spire pointed bullets (like the SST, Shockwaves, etc) will tear paper in the manner you suggested in sort of a star pattern. TAfterall the spire is not a wadcutter. Hollowpoints tend to punch a more rounded hole.
