Wow i'm having alot of difficultys choosing a gun, thanks for all the help you guys have been giving me though.
What are your thoughts on the winchester x-150? I can get it new for $149.
If this gun is no good i'm pretty sure i'm just going to go with the H&R sidekick.
Thanks again

There are reports of BPI (CVA & Winchester) products blowing barrels and for what reason it has not been determined. This is the one thing all black powder shooter fear the most not just because of damage to the rifle but injury to the shooter and anyone near. In fact in some of the cases being investigated there are injuries. This also make a lot of people who already own a BPI product rather worried about shooting the thing.
From some of the reports I have been reading this was happening when shooting Triple Se7en and in one case they were shooting three pellets. The rifle was supposed to be able to handle that kind of charge, yet it blew. Is Triple Se7en the devil to black powder shooters?
At this point until all facts are in and it is determined whether the barrels are good or not I would avoid a BPI product and stick with the H&R. I guess I just can not recommend a rifle that might have faults. The Winchester X-150 was one rifle and the others were CVA Eclipse. They have lately been selling tons of these things for next to nothing. Are they getting rid of the things? You be the judge.
I will state I have two CVA rifles and have never had a problem with them. They are great shooters. I have never got near the 150 grain load with them. Mine shoot best with 90 grains of Goex which is much different then 150 grains of Triple Se7en. Yet, based on all these incidents that have taken place I will again recommend to you the H&R Sidekick.

Natchez.Com has F10KGDISC604C which is a Knight Disc Rifle and with the rebate you can get it for $179.95. I really do not think you could get a better shooting rifle for that kind of money. Knight shoots sabots excellent. If you decide to go with them, get yourself some Barnes Expanders in 250 grain. My Knight shoots them excellent.
Actually if the break open design was not all that important, and your willing to spend the extra time to clean the bolt on the Knight rifle, I think you're going to be real happy with the Knight.
You need to look through the Natchez October flyer, they have some excellent sales on rifles...

Knight Disc does come pre tapped for a scope and has excellent fiber optic sights I believe. There is currently a $50.00 rebate from Knight when you figure in the price of the rifle.... Hope this link works for you.
The Knight Disc is probably not on the Knight Web page because it could be a discontinued model which is why they are selling them so cheap. That does not mean they are any less covered by Knight. It just means there are new models out that they are pushing.....

If this is new to you i think you will be happy with the sidekick they (H&R) have been around forever and you can buy it at walmart for about $135 (ask for it if you dont see it they handle them my dad got one there last year) it shoots good and for the price and will give you some experience and most likely if you start liking black powder shooting you are going to buy something else anyway, also its tapped for a scope. good luck
