Hello all. I know I should have experimented with this earlier however time is not a luchery I have. I have a Knight ML (not disk) loaded with 2 Pyrodex Pellets (Not 777) pushing a 300 grainer. How much will this drop at 150yds. It shoots 3\4 inch groups at 100yds and is sighted in 2 inches high.

I shoot 260 gr Platinum tips with 100 gr of 777 loose. I zero 3" high at 100 and am nearly dead on at 150. With your bullet and powder your going to have more than a couple inches of drop because of your velocity. We can guess all we want, but nothing beats rangework. Hopefully someone shooting the load you shoot or similar posts because anything else is guesswork.

What type and brand of bullet? They all have different BC's and it will effect the outcome at that range. Is it a Hornady XTP or simular, or an sst type, or a barnes expander, or one of the Dead Centers? With two 50 grn pyro pellets it will drop more than 3 inches at 150 yards I am sure. However if you are two inches high at 100 that's basically zeroed at 130. I was shooting 300 grn XTPs last year with 95 grns of FFFG Triple Seven and had around 3 inches of drop at 150 yards, but my gun was sighted in at 130 yards for a zero. Also the height of your scope makes a difference as well. So yours should be close to that I would think.
I punched it into a ballistics calculator and came up with this. With a 300 grn hornady XTP and 2 50 grn pyrodex pellets you would be getting aproximately 1700 ft/sec. If you sighted in at 100 yards you would be 1 inch high at 70 yards and about 5.5 inches low at 150 yards. This is with a 1.5 inch sight height. The higher your sight (high rise mounts) the flatter the trajectory will look. Not much though, even if you had a 3 inch sight height you would still be 4.5 inches low at 150 yards.
With a 130 yard zero (or 2 inches high at 100 yards) you would be 2.5 inches high at 80 yards and 2.2 inches low at 150 with 1180 ft/lbs of KE
Another thing to keep in mind is whether or not your gun and that load will shoot well that far. If your groups open up as little as an inch or two at that distance you could be more like 7 inches low instead of 5 depending on where the bullet impacts. I would try to shoot it at that distance before using it. My remington 700 would shoot that well at 100 yards with 300 grn XTP's and the same powder charge. And it would shoot ok at 130 yards, but at 150 it was not very good.
I switched to 350 grn Precision bullets and it is much more accurate at longer ranges. Again, it is sighted in at 130 yards and I am about 2.5 inches high at 80 yards and 2 inches low at 150. That means anywhere out to 150 yards I can aim center of mass and put a bullet thru the vitals. And the knock down power is better as well, some where around 1500 ft/lbs.
Good luck,
Paul

My old load was 100 gr pyrodex pushing 240 xtp's. I was 1.5" high at 100 and the same low at 150 (3"). I would say your 300 grainers would be in the 2" low range at 150(4" range). So if you aim centre of lungs your ok. However as suggested the only way to know 100% is pop a few off at 150 to make sure!
