Default Your Omega…My Omega…What’s on your Omega?

I finally got my birthday gift from my wife. Three months late but no complaints here It’s a 50 caliber Omega with a camo synthetic stock and blued barrel (Upgrade from the CVA Kodiak that she was going to buy me). I have a question for those that have the Omega.

I am looking at putting on a Leupold scope, a VX2, 3x9x40 or the Compact 2-7x33. The VX2 is just a tad over 12 inches and the Compact is just at 11 inches. Can I get the VX2 or the Compact on with standard weaver mounts (#410) and low or medium height rings and not have to remove the rear sight? Or will I have to put higher rings on to sit above the rear sight. I would prefer to not have to remove the rear sight if at all possible (but I will if I have to). Or is there something better?[8D]

What is your scope setup on your Omega?

P.S. For the guys…No she doesn’t have a sister

I've got a Millett Buckgold 3-9X44 mounted on my Omega. As you can see, the rear sight is removed. I removed the front sight also after this pic was taken.

I have a 13" Sightron on mine with see-thru rings. No need to remove anything,

Deer Magnet,
I have a Leupold VX-II 3x9x40 mounted on Leupold QR 1 pc. base and medium QR rings. and yes, the rear sight of the Omega had to be removed for this setup. I also removed the front sight but I have no intentions of ever using open sights anyway so this setup works good and looks good also. Good luck with your new Omega!

I simply prefer to remove sights on anything I scope. With this pic for instance, although it's dark if you look at where my hand is holding the barrel you will notice no rear sight despite having room for one. That rifle has no sights mounted. My wife's Wolverine 209 (no pic) also has sights removed and scope mounted.

If your going to scope it and it's legal to use scoped during muzzleloader season, there's no sense going halfway about it. Either scope it and remove the sights or don't scope it and use em.

The omega is the goofiest design I have seen yet for a ML rifle. But they shoot so sweet. I have many mixed feelings on the omega. Thats why decided to get the TC encore instead.

The funniest thing about the Omega is that 2 years after introduction they are still selling faster than Thompson can make em.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'm going to go with the Leupold 2-7x33. Now the fun part starts, finding the best load for it!
