Default TC renegade question

I have the older style .50 TC Renegade, with the set trigger, purchased about 18 years ago. TC sells a mount that won't require drilling/tapping a new set of holes. Before ordering one, I'm looking at the Renegade they sell now, and wondering if this mount won't work on my gun, since they're different. I called TC and wasn't 100% convinced with the answer they gave me. Does anybody know if the mount they list, #9953, works on all Renegades? I don't want this gun drilled and tapped, I hunt with the open sights, and have an inline when I want to use it, but am curious to see how accurate it is with a scope

Whether this scope mount will go right onto the barrel of the Renegade, I am not sure. I have a Renegade and have often thought of mounting a scope on it. I had a T/C Peep site professionally mounted a long time ago, and it has served me just fine. Now with the eyes getting older, I thought a lot about a scope on it, but I have other rifles to handle the job so I just leave the rifle like it is...

Looking at my Renegade, if the mount attached in the far front of the mount and was long enough to reach back towards the hammer and be solid I think it would work. You might need a scope with a long eye relief but they sell them.... Guess the decision is up to you

Thanks cayugad, the mount is supposed to fit into the rear hole of the rear sight, then into the hole "next to the hammer". I have the two screws in the piece behing the barrel, next to the hammer, I'm just afraid the newer models have another hole somewhere at the rear of the barrel. I think I'll just pick one up an give it a try.

Let me know how it fits... maybe I will get one myself and mount a low power scope on the Renegade. Although the peep site has sure made a lot of meat with this old rifle....

If what Cayugad suggested works, for an inexpensive scope, the Bushnell Banner has (1) model that has 6" eye relief.... the other Banner models average around 4" eye relief. If all goes well & you need a long eye relief scope, start a thread here to help locate the "hard-to-find" 6" Bushnell version. A few days ago, I seen it online at Bass Pro. You may have to order it via the internet.
