Default .45 cal Encore barrel

I just bought a .45 cal barrel for my T/C Encore. From what I understand T/C made them with a 1:28 twist rate, same as the .50 cals. I can't wait to get it and try it out as soon as this weather breaks. I have a blued 209x50 barrel that is in great shape that I might be putting on the classifieds. Anyone interested keep your eyes open or send me a PM.
Once it starts to cool down I now have 3 muzzys to sight in

Bronko,I have a 45 Encore, it shoots a gong a bit over 6 inches in diameter at 250 yds. with real consistence when I don't mess up [it is the longest range I have available] the load I use is 120 gr BH a Harvester 50/40 smooth sabot and a 40 caliber 200 gr shock wave.

Im thinking of using a similar load. I have a bunch of 200 gr XTPs and Harvester blue CR sabots.

The 200 gr. XTP was the only 200 gr. I tried that would not shoot accurately in mine.

Really?! They shot excellent out of my 1:30 GM barrel. Have you used the shockwaves on deer? If so how did they perform?

The 200 grain XTPs shoot great out of my 1:30 GM barrel also.

With that bullet in Harvester's H4540BR (crush rib) sabot and a mere 65 grains of GOEX FFFg I get a bit over 1500 fps fifteen feet from the muzzle with 1.5" 100 yard groups. That load was deadly on the three deer I've shot with it - all pass throughs with all the signs of perfect expansion.

I did find accuracy with that bullet falls off if I tried to push them to higher velocities.

My other computer crashed and I lost my target pictures but as I recall I used 70 gr of Pyrodex P and had similar results. I have several .45 caliber conicals I want to try in this barrel also.

Clem, a fellow DWB by the name of Bob Bowers converted a White 451 bbl with the 1-20 twist to fit on my son's TC Encore. Unfortunately, with his busy schedule, he's yet to try it out. I may have to try it out myself. GRIN
