    im not sure why a shotgun primer is called a 209 I reload shotgun shells and federal and cci are magnum primersanyone know why it’s 209

    Can Black Horn 209 be ignited with a duplex [booster] charge of some sort like they do with flintlocks and sub powders?

    Maybe that's the 289 ignition system?

    It isn't a Typo and it doesn't say 289, its just the Font they're using for the typeset. The "0" in 209 has a slash or line through it.

    In some fonts the line is used as an identifier to distinguish the number 0 from the letter O.

    Winchester has long manufactured their W209 shotgun primer. The term is also generic for shotgun primers regardless of maker.
