Default white super safari .503 loads

so i finally had a chance to shoot my super safari i converted from a regular stock. when it was original it loved a 440 gr/100 gr 777 ffg load and after i restocked it it didn't shoot the same so i went to the range today and was trying some different load/combo's and i realized i had a pack of parker and hale .50/580 gr bullets boom that did the trick at least so far i only had one package but the gun so far really liked them so 580 gr over 90 grs 777 ffg really tightened up the group! these bullets have a taper to them so i'm not sure yet if it was the weight of the bullet or the tighter fit at the top of the bullet had to put some pressure on them to get past the first few inches then they slid right down on a dirty barrel too. i'm having a new mold made from lbt it's going to be a 600 gr super slug slip fit with two sizers one at .503 and the other at .504 if it shoots the 600 just as well as the parkers it's probably the weight of the bullet that the rifle likes ? i was also considering barrel harmonics as another factor ?? it was also extremely windy today !!

While I only have 45 cal Whites I think you will find you will obtain better accuracy if your mold casts a bullet at 504 or 504.5. I know the 50 cal Whites their bbl's are sized to 504. I know for accuracy Doc likes his bullets slightly oversized e.g. .5

Yeah I heard from doc today and he says that's what these barrels were designed for big heavy bullets (600) I will have to make sure my mold I'm getting will cast at 505 so I can play with the size a bit.I will have to have a new mold for my .410 safari made I guess.

That is some good shooting. I once got some 588 grain conicals from someone. I shot them in my White Ultra Mag with 80 grains of 777 and the accuracy was amazing. Recoil of it let you know you were shooting a heavy conical. How was recoil with your rifle?

not too bad but i am 6-2 250 lbs so not a lightweight i was shooting quite a bit before that too so not bad at all but i will crank them a little bit more to see how accuracy is maintained or falls off ?

i tried some 440 grain white slugs with pyro p and they were all over the place, that reminds me the first time i shot pyro p and the 440's and i thought there was something wrong with the gun or scope ! for some reason my gun don't like that pyro p at least this one.

To be honest, when I first started shooting White's I could not get their bullets to shoot accurately no matter what load I used and almost sold it. Then somebody told me about NoExcuse bullets and man did my groups shrink. Then I started casting my own and never looked back. I didn't want to be dependent on a company who may go out of business and didn't want to own a rifle that I couldn't buy bullets for.
Regarding powder, Pryo P always produced great accuracy for me, but I switched to 777-3F or Swiss 3F. They both shoot great and is not as dirty.

I have boat loads of no excuses bullets they are great bullets but he does not make 600 gr 50 cal bullets the super safari I very sensitive to barrel harmonics so if it is a tack driver with 600 gr bullets that's what I'm feeding it.thanks ms

My .504 Super 91 likes a 496 gr conical an 85gr of T72Fg. That load put a mature doe in the freezer earlier this month. I usually hunt with my .451 S91 an when the .504 spoke it sounded like a cannon in the field. Hard to argue with results like that!

Great shooting by the way too!!
