Don't forget shallow grove if you decide to go that route.

I have no interest in a .54 conical shooting sidelock.

My "IF" is this. I have a 36" 13/16" octagon Green Mountain barrel in 40 caliber with a hook bolster breech plug that I bought several years ago. My intention was to make a trim little full stock rifle in cherry wood. Never got around to it. For the last few months I've been thinking "what if I had that barrel bored out to .451 with a shallow groove 1:24" twist for shooting Ed Mehlig's 460 grain flat point conicals". Yeah! That's the ticket.
