It looks like the solid point didn't penetrate any better than the HP?

I wonder what kind of fps you are getting with 80gr of BH209? I has to be 1400fps+ by my estimates. Thats pretty peppy for a soft lead bullet.

Yes, but did they have any other choice? They made the round balls using a campfire back then. Lead sure made that easier.
I have nothing against modern bullets and will be using one this year. However, heavy lead is always a good choice too. |
very impressive looking test. I like the pure lead bullet and the way they hit and expand. All these years of hunting with them, and I have no complaints.
