Actually, the manual instructs one to use a tool.

Remove the breech plug using the tool provided. NOTE: A standard
12MM socket wrench may also be used to remove the breech plug

Reassemble the gun components in reverse order

CVA pre 2010 Owner Manual

The manual linked, does not say finger tighten, on page 12, nor does any other page 12. Here is page 12:

read their website for the buckhorn.

Even my qrbp says finger tight.

I did notice in the manual for a knight revolution and other models they do not recommend lead conicals. I found that interesting.

If my inlines had a tool to remove the BP I also used the tool to reinstall it.
My QRBP on my Accura V2 only gets finger tight.

page 7 for conventional and bolt action. Tighten breech plug and nipple until snug.

buckhorn, page 2 - cleaning procedure - step 10

Just as I suggested, call/email your muzzle loaders Manf. and ask for info regarding your breech plug and how much torque they recommend when reinstalling the plug.

Page 7 - snug - snug has a tightness, therefore it can be measured.

Yep, always use the tightening tool, even if you are only turning it slowly until it stops.

When I used seizing 777 powder, the T/C brand left enough grace room for me to tighten until stop, then back-off a half turn. The hammer door will still shut sufficiently on my Omega this way.

Doing it this way allowed me enough grace room when the plug seized. I was able to go in reverse and actually tighten the plug more, in order to crack the seizure and remove the frozen plug.

Are you sure? My Omega will not go into battery if the breech plug is only backed out 1/4 turn. My Omega puts a slight 'crush' on W209 primer, when the breech plug is totally tight.

Just another unsung advantage of using Blackhorn powder....Even if the threads are totally gunked up with burnt debris, when shooting Blackhorn, the breech plug is still readily removable.
