I was going to suggest going to loose powder anyway. You can tweak your load to get the best accuracy. And like the others have said, a pack of speed loaders will enable you to load just as quickly.

That would be fine for a real primitive season.

This is my powder measure. Filled from a powder horn carried during the hunt.

That's a nice one Pete. I made mine out of a deer antler tine. I just drilled it out and kept checking it once I got close. Drilling a little at a time. When I go the right depth for my 80 gr charge I took a round file to one side and put somewhat of a spout on it for pouring into the muzzle. I'd take pic and post it but it's up in PA and I'm in FL. And I'll likely forget when I get back up there.
Wow, only 38 more minutes until Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone.

I had one years ago made from a Moose antler. Didn't have that pretty brass on it though. That one sure is purdy Pete

I have 2 boxes, one is new, the other has just a few missing. Came with a rifle I purchased and I don't use them. Where are you located?

BTW did you ever consider the reason they appear to be more accurate was the larger charge than the 50cal pellets? You could achieve the same thing with loose powder.
I tried the 60 gr pellets in my Rem Model 700ML in .54 and they shot like crap.My rifle likes a charge of 105 grs of FFG or Pyrodex equivalent and the pellets simply didn't work for me and since all they ever had was 60 gr pellets I simply stuck with loose powder loads and went out and slayed deer with it.

I don't use pellets. I looked because the OP asked but all my typical sources are out. I use BH209 and Swiss in my Green Mountain 54-120 brush gun.
