I hate to brag, really I do...but I can't help it this time. I ordered what was listed as an Accura V2 nitride/package including konus scope and cloth gun case from Amazon for $420+tax and free shipping. Got the gun yesterday, but it turned out to be a Optima V2 nitride/package, scope, and case. I called Amazon on it an turns out they never had the Accura all along, so they knocked off $110 on my new Optima V2. Merry Christmas to me!!
Gonna take her to the range tomorrow along with the Optima V2 pistol to see how she does.

yeah it changes the surface of the metal and it's supposed to be harder than chrome ! the black ice is a coating i guess time will tell if the nitride will hold up to the bumps and bruises of hunting life i hope it does ?

I have black ice on my White ML and love it. Does it wear off? Well I noticed two areas where it has. One place is the inside edge of the of the mouth of the bore. The second is in the breach area where the #11 or Musket caps sits on the breech plug. I guess the heat/flame of where the bullet comes out and the spark of the caps will burn it off. Other then that it is very durable. In a simple version on how I clean my rifles. I just wipe it down, clean and oil the bore and I'm good. I don't have to worry about the exterior of the rifle that has been blacked iced.

I was at first, but I like the Optima too, and they are very similar with the same trigger according to CVA. My Optima pistol put me over the edge in favor of the rifle as it is so accurate and after reading many posts/reviews on the Optima and the big discount I decided to keep it.

The black ice has no sign of wear anyplace on my thunderbolt.I use 209 ignition, is it possible they are not as hot as #11 or even musket caps.the action was smooth before the ice, but now it's hard to believe it's even better. The customer service and response from black ice is superb too. I have no doubt it will last a long time and mine is over a stainless steel barrel.
