Yep, there are 54x50 sabots and plenty of good 50cal bullets are available.

Then technically, powerbelts are not legal. The 50 caliber powerbelt bullets are less than 0.5 wide until you pull the trigger.

You could say a PRB isn't legal too, but they over look that.

If there was a tag for any Colorado elk season in my pocket, i would drive over, and hunt with this bullet in this rifle.

I agree with the gun, but not the bullet. It's not proven on elk yet.

Geez Pete, why wouldn't the bullet work? It seems ideal to me. Besides, someone has to be first, and it would be just dandy, if it were me.

I had high hopes for it too. I bought some, and it loaded easy, and was accurate.

Then I read a few hunting reports, and some water bottle tests. It reminded me a bit of a Powerbelt. At fast speeds it was overexpanding, and at slower speeds it wasn't expanding at all.

Reports were on smallish deer. Nothing on elk at different distances. It might be fine, but my gut feeling is to wait and see.

Ive been thinking about trying them but i have a feeling that blackhorn might not work well with them . Then i would have to choose a different bullet or a different powder :)

That's what I was using, and they shot good. All that plastic junk hanging on them is pretty sturdy.

I might give them a try then , since you and Chuck Hawks say the same thing :)
