Default Whats the deal with Chronographs?

Whats the story on chronographs and sabots? I get reliable readings from my ShootingChrony on my bow and other weapons. When I go to saboted ML bullets things get screwy. I might get three accurate readings in a row, then something like 3,855 FPS, or 724 FPS. Ridiculous speed readings. Then back to good readings.
Does anybody else have this problem? Is it due to the two projectiles (bullet and sabot) crossing the chrony at the same time?

BTW, the fastest reliable readings I got from my Encore were around 2,260 FPS with 3 pyrodex pellets and a 200 gr bullet. I didnt think that was too shabby.

I set my Pro Chrony 12' in front of the muzzle, and receive accurate readings if it is closer, I sometimes receive erratic readings. Good luck.

That could be the problem. I only set it about 4-6' in front of the muzzle. I used to set it out farther, but had a minor " accident" when a WonderWad decided to fly downward right out of the barrel. I guess since I' m not using the WonderWads any longer I could move it back out. Might keep me from blowing the sky screens off now and then with the magnum charges too!
I' m just plain hard on equipment I guess.

Put clear tape over the sensors, loose the screens, and shoot HIGH.

It is the Sabots no Doubt I set mine about 15 to 20 yards from the muzzle to eliminate the muzzle blast interference I sometimes get.

Guess I' m gonna have to grit my teeth and move that baby out farther. Makes me nervous though, the farther out it gets, the more likely I am to blow it to bits!
Thanks fellas.
