I'm confused about the no pain. Are you on pain pills?

I have a lot of soreness, but no real pain. I did have some pain last night because I rolled over on my left side and hit myself. I am taking some pain pills to manage any discomfort. If I move my hip in a certain way it will cause some pain. But there is no throbbing pain at rest or when I put full weight on my left leg!!

That's a pretty serious operation. Lots of things were cut up.

You don't think the meds are the reason you're not feeling pain? Have you gone without them to see how you feel?

I'm curious, because I was told i'll need to have it done one day too. I've been trying to ignore the idea.

Glad all went well and your home. Now if you need that walker for any length of time I have a scabboard you can use to tie to it for your muzzy?!

Actually they make an incision to the leg and then separate the muscles. They do this all from the top of your leg by the joint. Once the joint is exposed they saw off the ball from your leg bone and clean out the arthritic socket till they get to rich blood supplied bone. They then insert the bionic replacements and then close the incision. There were no stitches. They use some type of glue and a tissue type cover that will wear off with time.

So, with littorally no tramma to the area, there should be little pain. And I'm enjoying it. There is a small amount, but the soreness is more annoying then anything!

Hey Buddy, glad to hear from you. The pain came directly from the joint. It was a degenerative arthritis and the pain was getting worse and worse every day. I had to take pain meds to get through the day. I'm thinking that this was the best move I have made in a long time. The operation was last tuesday and I can actually walk with out a cane or walker. The only pain I'm having now is after my rehab exercises. I am taking Ultram/Tramadol for it. It takes the edge off and I'm actually feeling good. I have started to walk around my neighborhood circle and it is working nicely. After that I ice it for a few hours.

Hope all is well of you and the bride!! It was a very nasty winter for us down here in Virginia, but it was vey nasty for you guys up state NY.

Actually hip replacement is much easier on the body and faster recovery than the knee in most cases. I've seen both surgeries done in the past. The knee is a rough one. Glad Ur getting along good rafsob.

Glad to hear all is going well. My work buddy has had both done. He's running 5Ks and feels great. The technology is amazing.

I don't run 5ks with original equipment.

Hey rafsob,

For God and Sonny Jesus' sake... take time to heal up and don't try to be Superman right out of the gate. Make sure you're able to navigate OK before you start gettin' rambunctious!! We're expecting to see pictures of you with some of those skinny lil' VA deer that you shoot like rabbits again this season!!..LOL!!... Seriously Bud... I hope all goes well and you have a great 2014 hunting season!
