Does anyone have a tang for a Renegade (1") laying around in their spare parts? A 3 hole tang preferred.
My gunsmith was drilling the 3rd hole in my tang and the bit walked and the hole went out of alignment. So he thought he would mount the sight up a bit higher - just enough to clear the rear tang screw hole - and drill 2 holes to mount the sight. It worked out perfectly except for one thing. When I mounted it on the rifle and attempted to line the peep up with the open sights the peep would not go down low enough.
So now I have to either get another tang or have this one welded up and redrilled.

Man, that stinks.
I suspect a tang is going to be hard to come by. He screwed up a simple job and should make it right by either welding it up and drilling it correctly or replacing it. Didn't you say he had some TCs leaning against the wall?
EDIT: Another option (if your's satisfied with how the tang looks) would be for him to provide you a higher front sight.
You might want to try this trick to see how high a front sight would be needed, and whether you can live with it. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/blac...-how-high.html

Oh he is going to fix it but it He can't get to it until next week sometime. All the T/Cs are Hawkens with 15/16" barrels.
But what makes matters worse is the Williams sight required you to remove some wood from the stock. I did a beautiful job doing that but now the sight will be going back lower and I have to fill the stock back in. Looks like I will be refinishing it afterall.

I have an extra one in my parts box you can have but unfortunately I am in FL and it is in Tn. It will be 3 weeks before I can send it. If something goes south and you still need one, well, let me know.
Correction edit: I found one! Its yours if you still need it. PM me your shipping details.
