.54 Maxi-Ball or Maxi-Hunter
Does anyone know of a company/person who casts and sells .54 Maxi-Balls or Maxi-Hunters?
I am trying not get into bullet casting, but it sure is hard to find anything in .54 cal anymore unless you want to sling over 500 grains of lead, or a round ball.

Jorgy,
Keep an eye on Ebay. You should be able to find new or very good used mold blocks for the .54 Maxi-Ball as they tend to be more common. I have never shot either in my .54 renegades but in my other rifles I have shot both and the Maxi-Ball tended to be more accurate. You may also want to look into a Lee REAL mold...

Contact Dan at Bullshop. He posted a few days ago on castboolits that he has some 54cal molds he would sell. I think he said he has a Great Plains 54cal mold for sale and a MaxiBall. He also sells several 54cals in sizes .540-.544. Im pretty sure he has some 54cals as low as 420gr.

The Maxiball always shot better than the Maxihunter for me. May have been using too much powder for the Maxihunter, but since the Maxiballs shot so well with 100 gr., I never really tried to get the Maxihunters to shoot accurately.
