Default BH209 Shelf Life Answered

Here is the response I received today from Rob Behr at Ramshot regarding the shelf life of Blackhorn 209:

"We are wondering that too. We have had samples from the first lot which we cannistered in 2007. We test it each year and so far have not seen a reduction in its pressure or velocity."

Rob

Didn't know if this was known. Thought I would share it with everyone.

that is good information. I kind of believe that it all depends on how the powder is stored.

It seems BH should last a LONG time if kept sealed well and in climate controlled environment. I know I've used 10yo pyrodex rs that still shot fantastic, and BH should be even better I would think. I guess in another 5-10-15yrs we'll get the answer

I agree Dave. I keep mine inside the house, away from direct sunlight and heat sources with the lids good and tight.
