Default Results with 240gr Scorpion funnel point mags.

Well, I re sighted my Omega and dialed it in as close as I could with these Scorpions/crush ribbed sabots and 100gr 777 pellets.

I thought they would perform better than they did but I am believe they will work out for my hunting ranges this season.

After I bore sighted and got it on paper I was able to put 8 shots in a 4" circle at 50yards shooting off a rest. I fiddled with my scope during these 8 shots.

I was able to put the last 3 shots in a vertical line with the bullseye within 3 inches of dead-on. The last shot hit about 1" high.

Due to my hunting spot this year, none of my shots will be over 50 yards.

Do you think I'm good to go, or should I shoot some more groups, or just leave it be?

My target range happens to be at the same property I hunt, so I don't want to be blasting away out there anymore than I have to.

I have got better results with other bullet/sabot combos but every shot with these Scorpions were well within the kill zone at 50 yards. Don't really want to have to go buy more bullets etc. and start over this close to opener.

I'm thinking go with it. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Thanks for the input.

I would hunt. Sounds like you have it close enough to put it in the boiler room at the ranges you're talking. Personally I would fiddle with it a bit more after season, different loads and such but what you're describing I would hunt with.

I would hunt and limit my shots to 50 yards. Just aim dead center kill zone and let the bullet do the rest. After season you can see why the bullet does not want to shoot better then 3 inches at 50 yards.

Out to 50 yards you should be okay, though with those groups I would not shoot farther than that. When you have time in the future you should experiment more - your rifle should be able to shoot better than that.

You may be right Oldsmellhound. But we really don't know. He said he fiddled with the scope while shooting those eight rounds into a four-inch group at 50 yards. The scope adjustments certainly accounded for part of the spread. The gun might be shooting 1" groups.

That's correct. I didn't shoot any separate groups after my last adjustment and shot. Last shot was about 1" high @ 50. My windage was deadon the last 3 shots. I should be fine for the 50yd and under shot.

When I first got the Omega I was getting awesome groups with some cloverleafs at 100yrds. This was shooting off a regular rest using the same 100gr 777, but with Shockwaves and the yellow SG sabots. The SW with the blue sabots also shot well but where a little tough to seat.

I will definitely do some more experimenting after season.

Thanks for the replies!
