Hey Gang!

Ordered a CVA optima from Cabelas. I've been looking at two different starter kits and trying to decide between them. The stores have not been real helpful about the pros and cons between the two. I am totally new to this end of the sport, I've only shot 22s and shotguns.

The two kits are are;

What are the pros and cons between these two kits? Obviously the short starter is different, but is one better than the other?

Also, is the bellow Barrel blaster solvent a good thing to use vs whats in the kit?

I could just go out and start laying down cash, but I'd really like to just get the right stuff (or mostly ) the first time.

I wouldn't recommend either one, or any "starter kit". Spend a little time here and you will soon know what you need without the extras included in those things. Spend your money for a simple short starter (or make one yourself, they're simple) and tear up an old T-shirt for cleaning patches. If you're going to lay out close to fifty bucks, spend it on a quality range rod, like this.

Keep the money you'd waste on a starter kit and get a good heavy duty range rod, some cleaning jags, a brush or two, and some solvent and gun oil. Then look in your dresser and pick out all the cotton socks with holes in them and all them old T shirts your wife's been threatening to throw away on you, and grab them.

Awesome! Thanks guys! I take it the short starter has basically the same tip regardless of types/brands? The only real difference would be the handle?
