I had a burris Fullfield scope on my Encore .50 cal. once and had to send it back to the factory. They honored the warranty and repaired it, but when I opened the box, there was a note in it and it asked me not to use it on a muzzleloading rifle again. I ended up putting a Bushnell Banner BP scope and it worked fine for years. Tasco had a nice 2.5x shotgun/black powder scope (Bantam) and it works just fine on my NEF Sidekick:




I am very weak in the knees when it comes to scopes and BP guns. I try to put either a shotgun or BP scope on my MLs. Sometimes it is difficult to find a BP dedicated scope from a company.

I will check out your suggestions. Not familiar with the Omega. Is that the Nikon BDC?

So far my Leupold USMLS has held up just fine, I even used it for awhile with 150gr loads, it's pretty tough and I've never lost zero.
On one of my other Accuras I put a Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn ML Scope in Mossy Oak Break-Up on it. It also has help up perfect. For the $89.00 I spent on it 5 years ago it was well worth the money. I would have bought another one but they did away with the Mossy Oak camo version.
One of my Hunting buddies also has a Encore, it seems as if he's forever messing with his zero on his scope. He also uses a non ML scope, it's been sent back to the manufacture twice already for repairs.
But again I have used Cheap Tasco's along with non ML Bushnells and I've never had a problem with them on a ML, some only cost $29.00 and I've put em through Heck.

I know about cheap/inexpensive scopes. My Tasco Bantam was all of $34.00 and it is still going and going.

Been checking out the Omega BDC and it is on the same line as the Leupold Ultimate Slam BDC. I may just put an inexpensive Bushnell Banner on it and use it as another back up rifle. Can never have too many back ups!!!

You can get the Nikon Omega with or without the BDC. I picked the without. Where I hunt that just is not necessary. In fact the Cabela's Powderhorn scopes have a BDC and I am tempted to sight in the cross hair at 50 yards and then see where the rest of them hit. Only because 50 yards is a long shot in my woods.

I tried several and ended up with the Nikon Omega [muzzle loader BDC] on my inlines I really like them and they hold up under the heavy loads I like to shoot,Where as a lot of the others did not.

Well I went over to Cabala's and looked up the Powderhorn scope. They had them for $49.99 on sale. They had them for an original price of $119.00 and I got weak and ordered one. I also needed some bullets and placed an order. Will get it and check it out.

I really didn't want to put an expensive scope on a backup rifle. Now I have a chance to scope int two rifle now and some more fun! I like that.

Thanks Dave for the help. Now to work on a good bullet for the new rifle. This will be fun. I changed my mind and will go to the range in the am and shoot the new rifle. I told you I was weak!!! :confused0024:

PS: I always sight my ML rifles in at 50 yds, but with a one inch over hold. This would give me a good hold from 50 yds. to 75 yds. That is just great for here in the thick woods of Va.

Nice RASOB. I was undecided on the MR or the VR but went with the VR. How do you like that Ultimate Slam scope. I am thinging of getting one but unsure how much area those ballistic dots cover. I like the circles in the Nikons.

I stand corrected. I thought I saw the V2 listed as VR and MR to distinguish the std version over the mountain version with both being the V2 design (except for stock configuration and barrel length/finish.

Not sure there's much the same between both guns.

I'm surprised they didn't call it the Apex Mountain Rifle.
