Well I got It!!!
I got with Carlos and now I am the proud owner of a new CVA Accura MR. Dan't believe it only took a day to get to me. I am impressed on the workmanship of this rifle. It is light and stylish. I am very impressed with the weight. Great for us old guys while humping the woods! I went ahead and put my Leupold Ultimate Slam on her and she looks good:
![]() ![]() Now the problem, I have to wait to shoot her till next week. I gotta go to my hunt property to do a bunch of work. I will put her through her paces and will shoot my XTP, Parker bullets and some FPBs in her with BH209!!! I will post a range report on her progress. |
Good deal. Mine will show up at noon today.

What is that finish on the barrel? Do they have the rifle in just stainless finish? Or is that a trick of light, and that is stainless? That's a nice looking rifle with that scope. It seems to fit the rifle. I bet that will be a great shooter.
|
Not a big fan of the Powerbelt bullets, but are there any that have been improved? They sure are expensive! Would I just be wasting my time shooting them???
|
The finish is Weather Guard over the stainless barrel.

I'm sure I will like it. I am a big fan of the break open style ML rifle. I have the Knight Vision and the NEF Sidekick. All the rest of my BP guns are side locks.
Of course now that I took the Ultimate Slam from the Knight Vision I will have to find a replacement. I will more then likely get another one I suppose. It is hard to find a good scope for a ML rifle. :cool2: How about the Nikon BDC? Are they worth the time to check out? |
If its a rifle you don't shoot a lot, watch for the Cabela's PowderHorn 3-10x40mm For $50.00 (on sale) they are a heck of a scope. Otherwise I have a Nikon Omega on my Genesis and love that scope. Very clear, bright, and just a good scope.
|
The nikon's are good scopes but I shoot Burris Fulfield II balistic plex scopes on all of my long guns, and my Encore Muzzy. They have held up to any and all loads and bullet combinations, and I'm slowly replacing all my pistol scopes with them.
I guess I'm lucky as I can squint and still see the sights on all of my side locks, but I know in a couple of years I am going to have to go the "Semisane Sinful Sisters" route. |
Nice looking CVA Rafsob! I would have the same set up as you. I like My Leupold USMLS, I've got one on my Accura V1.
Mine shoots the 240gr XTP's great with the Leupold and 110grs of Pyro RS and also with 2 50gr Pyro Pellets. Let us know how she shoots. (BP) |

I try to put either a shotgun or BP scope on my MLs. Sometimes it is difficult to find a BP dedicated scope from a company. Dave: I will check out your suggestions. Not familiar with the Omega. Is that the Nikon BDC? |

I had a burris Fullfield scope on my Encore .50 cal. once and had to send it back to the factory. They honored the warranty and repaired it, but when I opened the box, there was a note in it and it asked me not to use it on a muzzleloading rifle again. I ended up putting a Bushnell Banner BP scope and it worked fine for years.

It also has help up perfect. For the $89.00 I spent on it 5 years ago it was well worth the money. I would have bought another one but they did away with the Mossy Oak camo version. One of my Hunting buddies also has a Encore, it seems as if he's forever messing with his zero on his scope. He also uses a non ML scope, it's been sent back to the manufacture twice already for repairs. But again I have used Cheap Tasco's along with non ML Bushnells and I've never had a problem with them on a ML, some only cost $29.00 and I've put em through Heck. (BP) |

So far my Leupold USMLS has held up just fine, I even used it for awhile with 150gr loads, it's pretty tough and I've never lost zero.

Can never have too many back ups!!! |
You can get the Nikon Omega with or without the BDC. I picked the without. Where I hunt that just is not necessary. In fact the Cabela's Powderhorn scopes have a BDC and I am tempted to sight in the cross hair at 50 yards and then see where the rest of them hit. Only because 50 yards is a long shot in my woods.

I tried several and ended up with the Nikon Omega [muzzle loader BDC] on my inlines I really like them and they hold up under the heavy loads I like to shoot,Where as a lot of the others did not.

I really didn't want to put an expensive scope on a backup rifle. Now I have a chance to scope int two rifle now and some more fun! I like that. Thanks Dave for the help. Now to work on a good bullet for the new rifle. This will be fun. I changed my mind and will go to the range in the am and shoot the new rifle. I told you I was weak!!! :confused0024: PS: I always sight my ML rifles in at 50 yds, but with a one inch over hold. This would give me a good hold from 50 yds. to 75 yds. That is just great for here in the thick woods of Va. |
Nice RASOB. I was undecided on the MR or the VR but went with the VR. How do you like that Ultimate Slam scope. I am thinging of getting one but unsure how much area those ballistic dots cover. I like the circles in the Nikons.

Bronko.....you keep saying VR. It's V2. (version 2) ;)

Not sure there's much the same between both guns.
I'm surprised they didn't call it the Apex Mountain Rifle. |
