Finially we are moved into our new home. This is kinda off topic but I missed out following everyone on here. I have been try'n to figure out posting pics but I am not a techi type person. I finially dug out this iPad to check out the forum. I think this year maybe a little troubling for me hunting here on our farm. There is 2 flock of turkey that come by twice a day for me to feed from our patio and I have 6 new friends that come by for a little attention. One I call bubba and he is a 2 yr old, non-typical whitetail that enjoys eating ciggarette butts and oats. Bubba is definitely a baby that needs a little tlc daily. I must admitt that it is a blessing to have bubba visit me daily. I will be out of the loop again for a while. I will be at BAMC in San Antonio, TX for a not so wonderful visit. Its not much fun when ya gotta see the doc to determine if ya need more hardware. When I figure out the pictures I will post them. Getting ready to post some range reports for my renegade, pedersoli, and my encore. No travel is evolved with my range; I can set on the patio and shoot but I am hindered now due to my son leaving for college and I have yet to purchase a utv to ride in to hang targets. I always took walking for granted until now. It's a struggle some days to make it to the patio. Sorry for the rant fellows, I took my meds and thought I would post.

well its good to have you here.
I know its hard to hunt the wildlife that come to your house to eat. I have turkey that come right up to the patio door. In a way its cool but then I keep thinking of Thanksgiving when they are so close.
Enjoy your new house. And good luck with the other things.

I'm pretty sure I would have a hard time shooting a deer that visited my patio regularly. Turkeys - not so much.
But there are no deer or turkey in my suburban neighborhood. All I have are gray squirrels that come to the house all of the time. They eat from the bird feeder. They eat the new shoots on my banana trees. They eat the tender young pepper plants along with newly sprouting bean plants and lettuce. And I eat every one of those suckers that I can pop with my pellet gun. The supply seems to be endless. The ones I shoot are quickly replaced by others from the surrounding area.

cayugad,
I have always loved hunting, but I also just enjoy watching the animals. My grandpa in his much later years enjoyed setting at the window and watched the cattle. All his life he had cattle and enjoyed that life style. I have several places to hunt throughout the southeastern US and honestly I get more enjoyment watching and fooling with the animals here than I would from hunting them. I find that killing is not the result I desire, but a means to preserve. Don't get me wrong, I love deer steak and fried turkey breast. However, the animals at my farm in TN actually help me deal with some issue's that I have acquired from the time I spent down range. I actually find it rather comical to watch the animals interact without the human influence. I reap the greatest benefits a man can have, the love of a good woman, freedom to carry a firearm down main street, great friends who still believe in integrity, honor, and pride. We may with different weapons, but we still seek out the satisfaction of doing it our way. Hopefully I will get started doing some range time but it may be limited. The early wood duck and teal season open in early September and I am helping a friend start filming a new TV show. We will be in KY and TN for the openers. Try' to stay at the cameraman level and don't want to be on TV.I guess I went on another rant. Sorry, it's the meds.

Well, after two doctor appointments today I'm beat. Came home to see my daughters little wiener dog have a heat stroke playing in the yard and my doc's said that I need a 4th spinal surgery. It's not been the greatest day,but definitely not my worst day. the doc says I need more hardware to stabilize my spine, but after the 5 surgeries I had last year I don't think I can go another one right now. The psychological factor is devastating to have that many surgeries ans have that much hardware put into one's body. I declined to have the surgery at this time and figure that I may at least have hunting season to build up to the surgery later.
