I try not to talk politics because I am very opinionated and I usually find that it is a good way to cause ill feelings. I believe that there are enough issue's in the world without adding my opinions that may vary from everyone else. I honestly would rather talk about guns. Yall take care.

Flounder, you have greater trust in elected officials than do I. Would you ever have believed there would be a law that required you to buy health insurance or suffer penalties and the possibility of seizure of your money or property by a new army of IRS agents expressly hired and trained for that function?
I have no faith that someone like Obama and his cohorts would not use the treaty to accomplish controls they can't arrive at any other way.
Remember, a ratified treaty essentially becomes law in the U.S., requiring/allowing administrative systems to enforce it. So consider some of the proposed treaty language that would require signers to prohibit/control sale of "small arms" that might....

" - Be diverted to unauthorized end-users for use in a manner inconsistent withthe principles, goals and objectives of the Treaty, taking into account the risk of corruption.
- Be used in the commission of transnational organized crime as defined in the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
- Be used to support, encourage or perpetrate terrorist acts."
Now, do you think it at least possible that someone of Eric Holder's ilk might interpret that the sale of a .45 ACP in your local gun shop "might" lead to any one or all of the acts described above - and therefore must be controlled by the Federal government so as to be in compliance with the treaty?
When a camel sticks its nose under the tent the best thing to do is kick the nose as hard as you can.
E-mail your Senator, dammit!
By the way, "transnational organized crime = Mexican/American drug cartels.

By the way, "transnational organized crime = Mexican/American drug cartels.

Check out this fox news article on the treaty
http://fxn.ws/N2MreC
It starts out like this:
UNITED NATIONS – *A treaty being hammered out this month at the United Nations -- with Iran playing a key role -- could expose the records of America's gun owners to foreign governments -- and, critics warn, eventually put the Second Amendment on global trial.

I wonder when they are going to create a ban on vehicle's? According the statics that I have read; they state that vehicle fatalities rank higher than firearms related deaths in the US.
http://www.datamasher.org/mash-ups/f...aths#table-tab
In the great state of Tennessee there were 15.4 firearms related deaths verus 22.8 vehicle related fatalities. We shall be walking soon....LOL
In the link above check out your home state and see how this all adds up. Guns don't kill; people kill people, guns are just a tool utilized to accomplish the deed. If a man has the intent to kill another man or committ a crime he will find away to accomplish the deed regaurdless. It is time for the American citizens to stand up and take the government back and place it in the people's hands and make the decisions on how we should proceed with this country. We have terrorists within the midst of our country. It is every citizens duty to defend and protect our rights according to the constitution the way it was intended. We have the right to remove these terrorist now. I can no longer remain silent about the way this nation has been run into the ground. I am not speaking in terms of politics but rather in the terms of our freedoms. I can only hope and pray that the blood shed of our forefathers was not in vain. We the people do not have to accept the president, Congress or Senate's ideology or their unlawful acts of terror against this great nation. Please take a stand and demand justice.

First of all, I am very much a defender of the second ammendment and all our gun rights. When something like this comes along I generally try to find out what is really happening. Here is a link with another view:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/untreaty.asp
I agree that there are some in political power that would like to have our gun rights limited. However, the second ammendment is strong and is here to stay, it would take another ammendment to overturn it. That is not about to happen.
Now, I consider you all my friends here, but I hope you understand I am not an enemy of yours if I don't buy into every theory that someone is out to take our rights away. I am all for being vigilant, but....sometimes it borders on paranoia.
OK Flame me all you want now.... I've got broad shoulders.

I wanted to share an email that I had just received back from one of the senators I emailed.
"Dear Chad,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me to express your concern about the rights of gun owners and the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. It is good to hear from you.
The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty threatens one of the basic rights enshrined in America's Bill of Rights, the right of Ohioans and all Americans to keep and bear arms. This is why I, along with 44 U.S. Senators, sent a letter to President Obama and Secretary Clinton stating that a U.N. treaty infringing on the constitutional rights of American gun owners is unacceptable. I oppose the ratification of any treaty that restricts the rights of law-abiding Americans to manufacture, assemble, possess, transfer, or purchase firearms, ammunition and related items.
I am firm supporter of Second Amendment rights. My voting record is one of strong support for the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to own and operate firearms. Like you, I believe that infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens does not address the root causes of violence in our society. I will oppose any U.N. Arms Trade Treaty which affects the constitutional rights of American gun owners.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact me. For more information, I encourage you to visit my website at www.portman.senate.gov. Please keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Rob Portman
U.S. Senator"

Here are the responses I received from my Senators - one Democrat and one Republican. Can you guess which is which?
Thank you for contacting me in opposition to the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. I appreciate your thoughts on this important issue, and I agree with you.
As you know, this treaty could lead to international tracking certificates, implementation of national registries, and tracking lists of all legal firearms in the United States. The U.S. Senate would have to ratify any such treaty, and I will oppose any effort to enable international organizations to infringe on our constitutional rights.
You will be pleased to know that I have introduced the Second Amendment Protection Act to prohibit our taxpayer dollars from being used to promote actions by the United Nations that could infringe on the Second Amendment. Under my bill, the president would have to certify annually that the United Nations has not restricted our Second Amendment rights before our taxpayer dollars could be used for payments to the United Nations.
Again, thank you for contacting me about this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you.
Sincerely,
Senator David Vitter
United States Senator

Thank you for contacting me to express your views about the UN Small Arms Treaty. I greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern for the United States, and I have always supported effective action to control the international transfer of arms. An Arms Trade Treaty initiative presents us with the opportunity to promote our high export control standards for the entire international community.
The United States Department of State is working hard for a strong and robust Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), and it has been agreed that negotiations for that treaty will proceed on a consensus basis. These negotiations will only cover international transfers of conventional weapons, not internal (domestic) transfers or possession. I will oppose any provisions that would conflict with the U.S. Constitution or domestic U.S. law.
I assure you that I believe in the fundamental importance of the 2nd Amendment and will continue working to ensure that Americans have the right to bear arms. As the 112th Congress progresses, I will certainly look into the UN Small Arms Treaty when it appears for debate and voting. I assure you that I consider this issue to be paramount, and I will continue to ensure that it receives the attention it deserves.
Again, I appreciate hearing from you and hope you will continue to contact me anytime. Please feel free to visit my website at http://landrieu.senate.gov for more information on my legislative activities.
With warmest regards, I am

Thanks for being on top of this item Semi. I have contacted both my liberal senators and will hope the best.
My only question is how do the folks down there keep voting for a twit like this idiot landrieu. Her only qualification was that of her name. I hate dynasties. You know just like that big assed hilliry!!! As far as I know she knows how to bake cookies.
Sorry, I just can't help myself when it comes to that woman. She manages to bring out the worst in me.
