update-

"Called Knight, the Guy asked if my gun had the New Vented breech plug and after looking online with him we decided that yes my gun has it. He said that was a new design that was supposed to work with these "new" powders. He was stumped and told me he was going to make some calls and then call me back."

So does it have a lehigh vent liner in it?

Do you have the plug in hand?

Does it have a Convex or a concave nose?

Is it a FPJ or a NFPJ plug?

Is the flash channel plugged?

Just some thoughts...

he said knight called back and they are stumped, it should fire bh209 but its not. Blow back is horrible so hes going to try an o ring between the BP and disc.

Not a reasonable bet. Unless SL had the same deal with Knight that Jon has with CVA.

How is it not fair?? If SL gets the gun to shoot then MD doesn't talk about CVA on this forum any more, if he doesn't, then SL doesn't talk about Knights. No deals other than if the gun shoots or not?!?!?!?

i already won, even knight doesnt know what to do ;)

i think a bare primer conversion is 40 some bucks but the guy ordered the disc for better weather protection.

Which is fine... the gun will still BH with a FPJ if it has the correct breech plug.

Me thinks the guy is using the wrong intermediary to get help with a Knight. Why that's like consulting me to get a CVA shooting right. or better yet a Traditions , the only gun I consider not as good as CVA .

The continuing story.... If I told you how many FPJ Knights sales you would would never grasp it.... They, Knight, have a hard time believing the amount they sell, but they certainly are not going to argue. Loading a weather proof, temperature forgiving , FPJ is about the easiest way in the world to cap and un cap a rifle. Plus you can use your fingers even with glove on... They are big time in many hunters thoughts. With the FPJ capped and a muzzle mitt on the barrel throw hole darn thing in a river come back a week later - It will fire no problem. The FPJ is that good.

But, with that said the FPJ is not the best way to shoot BH-209. It will shoot it but you have to do certain things correctly.... New FPJ's - BH is such a slow burning powder and it progressivley burns on top of that, so the back pressure does cause the nose of the FPJ to expand and release gas into the breech area.

Even with all of that... you can shoot BH with a FPJ.

This two targets were shot with a stock FPJ breech plug (concave face) and red plastic jackets. Check the amount if blow back soot on the FPJ.

knight said its the right plug to shoot bh209 so we'll see what he can figure out or knight can figure out.
