Default Cleaning up Stainless? MK 85

I purchased a used Mk 85 online. This won't be one of those fabulous like NIB stories. While functional, it's a little beat up.

Is there any way to polish out dings and marks on a stainless barrel. It looks a little dark.

Also, it looks like it takes a special BP tool. Any ideas on where I can get my hands on one?

Thanks,

Flitz polishing compound will make it bright and new looking but dings are there for life sorry to say.

MD beat me to it

If you want I can send you the wrench to remove that BP (just send it back when you are done) but I suggest you replace it with a hex head plug.

I replaced the original plug on my BK-92 just use a 7/16th socket to remove it.

Nimrodder,

Does this breech plug use a nipple for percussion caps or is it meant for 209 primers? The information on the web page is unclear.

It uses a #11 nipple.

Thanks for the replies.

Will I find this polish locally at Home Depot or an auto parts store? I see I can order it online but would rather just pick it up.

Most of the issues are surface marks rather than the dings I described. The Flintz may clean it up.
