I noticed on the tradition webpage that their 2012 lineup the Vortex will have a 30in barrel on it. What are your thought's on this ...good/bad..?......Not a gun i would carry around in the thick stuff, but may be useful shooting across fields i guess.

I don't see the need for a long barrel with a fast twist. Don't they say why the long barrel?

Just checked out their website again......they are saying that the 30in barrel will improve your accuracy with better velocities for those longer shots......i'm not buying that story......

The .270 I just sold had a 22" barrel, and would kill at 700yds.

I'm not buying it either. Just how far do they want a ML to shoot?

Tradition always seems to be looking for gimmicks.

longer barrel means your powder will have more time to complete its burn.

Subs do fine in 28" barrels. Anybody using real black in an inline?

guess it your using 150grs of pyrodex or related longer barrel may help, but the average person isn't shooting that much for accuracy.Guess cva or t/c will be coming out with a longer barrel now. say 32-34ins.........so how long of a barrel is TO long?

Some have 42"-44" barrels. They still waste 1/2 the real black powder as unburnt.

Doubt that happens with the subs. Especially BH 209.
