I have some questions about the .25 ACP breachplug conversion for my omega. (For those that don't know, this allows primed .25 brass take the place of 209 primers)

Who has used it - good/bad? Have you noticed the smaller ignition charge helping with accuracy as claimed but is the pistol primer enough to reliably make the gun go off in tough weather - 10 degrees below zero, etc?

What primers did you use - Magnum small pistol primers or regular small pistol primers. Would using one or the other make much of a difference?

What powder have you used with it? I am wondering if I can use BH 209...but its a bit tougher to ignite? The last thing I want is good range sessions, then a "pop" when I line up on a deer. I like to hunt in bad weather, snow, freezing rain, wind, subzero temps.

I use them with Triple seven and American pioneer. The work with Blackhorn with a small rifle magnum.

Concerning its use with BH209, I asked this question about a year ago. Of the replies I got, the consensus was that it would not be a good idea if you are using BH209 exclusively.

If you plan to use BH209, i strongly feel you would be wasting your $ if you bought into the 25acp conversion. It is my opinion that the chance a rifle, or pistol primer would ignite BH209 at -10, without a delay, is virtually zero.

In an Omega, the W209 primer should provide 100% reliability igniting BH209 at -10, or in the rain, and do it with zero blow back.

If you are trying to reduce the 'crud ring' whilst using 777, and/or improve accuracy whilst using 777, you may find the 25acp conversion worth the investment.

Well that pretty much answers my question, thanks! I am experimenting with a variety of things on the Omega to see just how accurate I can make it, but will probably keep BH 209 and the .25 ignition for separate loads for now.
