Well guys, Christmas is over and it's time to think about the new year.
I've never been a guy to fall into the old "New Year's Resolutions" trap. That always seemed to be a way to beat yourself up over your failings. I have a hard enough time keeping a new day's resolutions.
But I've been giving a bit of though to a few resolutions for the coming year. The possibilities are endless, so I decided to set a limit of five. After immediately discarding such thoughts as "I resolve to resist the temptation to purchase another gun" or, at the other end of the spectrum "I resolve to acquire at least half as many guns as Cayugad and Mountaineer Magic", I came up with the following.
I resolve to:
1. Completely organize my shooting supplies and miscellaneous “gun stuff” so I can find what I want when I want it. (Good luck with that!
)
2. Dig out the parts of that H&A underhammer that are somewhere in the garage and turn them into a gun.
3. Learn to shoot the peep sighted .50 GM/LRH TC Hawken well enough to consistently hit an six inch bull at 200 yards.
4. Spend an entire weekend shooting the .54 Great Plains flintlock over the chronograph comparing loads of GOEX FFg and FFFg with wads and without wads.
5. Never pass a pawn shop without checking out the gun rack.
THIS IS A CHALLENGE TO ALL - give us your top five.

Close the deal and sell the farm.
Get my meat saw and grinder home and set them up in one side of the honey house.
Sell more honey and wax.
Build an addition on the pole barn.
Sight in the Remington 50 cal. after installing new scope mounts.

1. Shoot more often, even though it is inconvenient and expensive for me right now
2. Start shooting at 200 yards, and work up several loads that will go that distance
3. Buy a traditional rifle (leaning towards Lyman Great Plains rifle)

1. Try to do more shooting in the "off season".
2. Try to do a little more hunting next Fall.
3. Re-organize my shooting supplies and storage area.
4. Have everything ready and all stands up before the dang season opens next Fall (I struggle with this every year).
And probably the most important one:
5. Introduce my Niece and Nephew to the sport of target shooting and hunting.

1. Stop buying guns. I am running out of room in my safes.
2. buy a new safe to help with problem #1
3. Clean up my reloading room!!!
4. Shoot more PRB this year.
5. Stop lying and start telling the truth.

#1 I need to really try and lose about 30 lb in case I'm successful in my WY elk draw.
#2 Start walking and get in shape.
#3 - 5; I have no idea. I ususally get what I want when I want it. (As long as she says it's OK...
. But most of the time
I don't hear her anyway.)
