Here is a pic I ran across I thought you might like to see. My brother(one on the right) and I got drew out back in 2008 for a primative weapon hunt in Missouri. We put in for this hunt for about 9 years before we drew out. We both tagged out the first morning of a two day hunt. We were both using Knight Disc rifles in the .50 cal. His was blued and synthetic and my was stainless/synthetic. Talk about a great hunt. Both of these bucks scored almost the exact same. At any rate post up some pics of some kills with the muzzleloader. Should be a good post and a chance to share.

Wow, those are 2 bruisers. Most of my ML kills have been baldies as I usually shoot my buck during archery season and here in PA we can only shoot 1 buck a year.

My first. In fact, this was the first live deer I had ever seen in my home county - and being just that kind of guy... I shot it. I was 14 rather than the 16 the local newspaper had printed (I think they were trying to help me buy beer early ;) ). I still have a copy of that old yellowed newspaper. Also happened to be the first legally taken deer in that county since the early 1900s.

26 years later, 1980, I took this one about 30 miles in the neighboring county west of that first one. He remains my best buck to this day.

155 5/8 B&C.

Breechplug, you have me bested with the m/l and there is no doubt that onetohunt and his brother did the same (where EXACTLY was that, onetohunt?) but this is probably my best buck to date with a muzzleloader

You can see, the picture is not terribly old. Fall of 09.

Sorry, the first two bucks I pictured were not taken with a muzzleloader. The first was taken with a very old Marlin 30-30 that failed to strike the primer hard enough to ignite for the first three shot attempts on that buck. The fourth went off. Pretty good composure for a kid. :) The second was taken with that buck at MAXIMUM speed through heavy timber with a .270 Winchester... heart shot.

My flintlock buck doesn't compare to those bruisers. But I'm mighty proud of him anyway.

But this is my favorite harvest picture.

This is my best ML buck to date. I shot him back in 2000 with my White rifle. He was a little over 100 yards out in a grown up field. He has a 18 inch spread and 8pts.

Semi, that doe is really dark colored on the head and neck area. Is that common down there?

Semisane 12-20-2011 06:36 AM

Not real common Greg. But we do get one like that every now and then.

For the last three years we've been seeing an old doe we call "Granny". She has a gray snout with a 3" white spot on the center of her head, and is gray along her neck and shoulders. She looks really old, but still has twins with her every year.
