Our Late MLing Season used to be Patch and Round Ball Only, then they changed it. They allowed Scoped and Sabots, there Reasoning was that a Scope would make You a Better Shot thus Causing Less Bad Shots and Wounded Deer. The use of a saboted Bullet was much Better Effiecent than a Round Ball and would Provide a Cleaner more Humane Kill on the Animal. The Scope would also give the Older or Less Eye Sight Impared a Better Visual on there Target, thus resulting in a Better Sight Picture and a Better Harvest Rate vs Loss Rate.

Because the Traditional muzzleloaders are organized into groups and clubs and have a strong lobby on the Fish and Game Department and even State Government. For awhile inlines were even banned.

ML season is suppose to be somewhat traditional, that is how it started and it is very difficult to move from that tradition.

Very few places out in the west require short range weapons to protect adjacent poeple or facilities.

Colorado banned inlines for one year. They got too much pressure to stay with it though.

Wow, you came back, this thread is unreal. There are a couple of guys here who shouldn't be allowed to post on the same thread. Reminds me of growing up with my brother, now go put your head in that corner and you in the other. Oops, I'm f'd

IMO the Dream Season (which is on sale atm at Cabelas btw) is one of the better NEW T/C offerings in that price range. The NEW ML only Pro Hunter FX "might" be another. As far as shooting conicals (full bore), they can be a bit of a crap shoot depending on how well the QLA system was made. Simple solution is to have it cut off and recrowned. The Triumph is another but YOU will need to decide which one is right for you AND if it fits you well when using open sites as well as scoped. Many newer ML stocks are designed more for scope use and using the open sites can be a bit hard to get low enough on the stock.
