I hunt public land 99.9% of the time. But when I did hunt private land I made it a point not to only show up at hunting season. I would drop by several times a year. Ask if he needed any help or just jump in - even a simple gesture of hooking up a trailer to the tractor so he doesn't have to jump off goes a long way. Dropping off some venison steaks or cleaned pheasants. Maybe even some candy for his kids. Send him a Christmas card with a note thanking him for allowing me to hunt. All this translates into your permission to hunt his property even if no one else can.

Im Fortunate to have some Good Friends that Own a-lot of Good Hunting Land, plus I Own My Own. But this Season Our State has allowed the Use of Rifles in our County and it really made a-lot of Land Owners MAD. Some refused to let anyone Hunt there that used a Rifle and some downright ended all Permission altogeather.
What was the Reason for BOW Only? You need to get out and Befriend some Land Owners and offer to do Chores for them for FREE, a little goes a Long Way. But sometimes BOW Only can be a Good Thing too.

my dad talked to the guy. did not give him an reason. it is more narrow of an lot then anything an few of his builds are there. so that may be the reason for the bow only. i have an bow but needs alot of work done to it and I paid very little for it. can't shot it any more anyways. my shoulder has gotten worst. shocked i can still shot an gun. missed out on an great deal on an crossbow this last summer.
