Question TC North West ML ?

Anyone have one ? Looking for good reliable first hand info.
Good and Bad PLEASE!

I have read enough on THIS Fourm I trust most all your guys opinions when it comes to ML.

I am looking for a good conical shooter and I like the 1/48" twist and these have cought my eye.

Or do you guys think a TC System One with a 1/38" twist would do better?

Thanks

Personally and this is just a suggestion, I would really look at a Knight DISC Extreme and if you have to comply with PacNW rules get it with a Western Kit. It is a 1-28 and shoots conicals very well. I shoot .503-460 grain bull shops or No-Exuses from mine. White rifles which are known for their abiltiy to shoot conicals use a a 1-24 twist and the 1-28 works extremly well. But if you are thinking round balls also then the 1-48 is probably the way to go.

Sorry, i did not answer your original question but i do not have first hand information on either gun you asked about.

Like Sabotloader, I have no first hand experience with the T/C rifle. But I do shoot a lot of conical bullets. Personally if I lived where you do, I would look for a used White Rifle. Even a G series will shoot a large conical bullet with extreme accuracy. I have three White rifles. There is not other rifle that can match them IMO when shooting conicals. I like the model 97, but any of them will shoot conical bullets.

It was also mentioned a Knight Disc... again, a great rifle but you'd have to change the ignition system to be legal. It appears you want to stick with an inline rifle from your mentioned choices. So neither of them could I recommend just from lack of knowledge. T/C is a great rifle.

One other option is a Renegade and then find a Green Mountain LRH with the 1-28 twist. They are an excellent conical shooter and perfectly legal. Plus you'd have the original barrel to shoot roundball for deer.

I believe that the northwest explorer has a QLA barrel, most people have found that TC's with the QLA are poor conical shooters for one reason or another. Also, despite what TC thinks, 1:48 is not the ideal conical twist rate, faster would be better unless you want to only shoot the lightest of maxi-hunters. If I was in a state that required no. 11 primers and an open breech, I would probably just get a knight bighorn. They are stainless, have a better stock than the TC, and can be had for around $400.
