I use a small balloon and a rubber band.
IMHO any thin muzzle covering will immediately blow out from the expanding gases and will not affect accuracy in the least.
One alternative that can occur would be if water droplets enter the barrel and subsequently freezes during hunting, which can then cause a bore obstruction that could blow up a barrel. So consider the consequences, especially if hunting in a cold weather muzzle loader deer season like we have here during the two weeks before Xmas.

I usually use the roof of my house or cabin. Works great.
