debating on hunting this year or not

only one way I put my last year. it stunk.
between injuries, and bad weather, I have not gotten to the range as much as I liked too. main reason I am thinking about this year off from hunting is money. my wife and I are wanting to do the next step. home owner ship. I am also looking for an new job. I don't want anything to restrict me in our goals.
over the last couple years, I found myself liking to target shoot more then anything else.
don't know, maybe skipping early ml season.

If you're like me you vow not to hunt this year and then the day before season starts, you go crazy because you have to get your license and gear all set up. But I can understand your reasons for not wanting to hunt.

Put a couple deer in the freezer you may find you actually save money by hunting. I haven't bought any meat for many years. The kids made antelope jerky twice so far. If I bought the same amount of beef jerky it would have cost me at least $200.00. And that's just the beginning . I say hunt, enjoy it and it's healthier meat anyway.

Corey, I respect your decision. But, you have already made your biggest purchase(s). And putting venison in the freezer isdefinately a plus like magic said. And, just the relaxing qualities of being in the woods is reason enough. Sometimes a person needs solitude to unwind. I have a sign in my room that reads "When I am weary, I go to the woods."
Now as for you wife not liking venison. Perhaps you are not making it correctly. If you wish, I will give you some preparation techniques and delicious recipes for venison that your wife will love. The trick is all in the preparation. Let me know and I will send them to you in a pm.

I think you'll regret it Corey. My whole year would suck if I couldn't go hunting.
I'm not sure what your hunting situation is, but I can go hunting cheaper than going to the range.
Elk meat more than makes up for any costs in my case.
Keep the deer cool. Skin and quarter it out right where you shoot it. Fresh venison taste like beef to me. Grind it up and mix some pork with it. You should be able to find some way your wife will like it. If you do, she'll be kicking you out of the house to go hunting.
