I have an original that I bought new in 1999...The first 7-8 years I used both the Barnes 300 MZ and T/C Shockwaves with the sabots that came with them...I tried .451 Hornady 300gr XTPs and they simply didn't group well...All of these combos were fairly tight, but no real problem as long as you cleaned between shots, which I do anyway...

At any rate, I have always been curious about the .430 Hornady XTPs, both the 240gr and the 300gr...The 240 is a classic and the BC of the 300 is great for a muzzleloading bullet, it's actually right behind a Shockwave/SST...

I also thought since these used the thicker green sabot they would be easier to load...

Like Little Red Riding Hood in my opinion they load "just right"...I use the regular green Harvester sabots...My hunting buddy is using the 240 in his Omega, I'm using the 300 in my Knight...So far I have killed 3 with mine, he has killed 2 with his...Another advantage, you can buy them in bulk...

Might want to try them...

Have you tried sizing them down a bit? what size is the mould throwing the bullets?

I can also send you some NE .460 gr .503 conicals, shot with 70-80 gr pyrodex is all you need where your hunting and i am sure your rifle will be accurate with them.if you liked them and i am sure you would. you can have a mould made at a reasonable price.

It is alot more satisfying when you shoot your own bullets that you cast. And it is definitely alot cheaper.

Have you cast and loaded any conicals yet?? That is where you really save some money.

Did you find some more lead yet?? Tom.
