That 3rd shot must have been a round ball...:)
|
I know you're just kidding. But seriously, All shots were with a 240 grain XTP, and orange 54 caliber, Thompson center Mag Express sabot. Oh, and the powder was GOEX.
So by all means, I suggest trying sabots in a 1:48 inch twist barrel. You might be pleasantly surprised at the results, like I was. |
Two people are not a group of people. Two elephants are not a group of elephants. And two shots are not a group.
But as I once said to Mary Lou - that's a real nice pair you have there. :s2: |
Semisane I think I knew Mary Lou. You always know how to make people smile. And a lot of your stuff really makes sense too.

Whatever Muley. You just go on with your mine is better than your's attitude. But either way you look at it, a saboted, jacketed bullet is ballistically superior to a PRB and therefore a better projectile.

Bronco... Totally agree |
Now muley, don't go backin up now. You said the PRB is all you ever need. And also why would you want to shoot a saboted bullet out of a sidelock? Or at least something to that effect.
There are several reason why you would want to: 1. With a faster twist rifling you will get better accuracy 2. At equal muzzle velocity the saboted bullet will deliver more violent terminal performance due to expansion. (provided a properly designed bullet is used) 3. More effective terminal performance will lead to quicker kills and possibly better blood trails. |
