My renegade never shot a RB worth a hoot either.i even had the smokepole guys from the range helping me to try and work up a load.the .430 gr maxi shot real well with .90 gr pyrodex,so i always hunted with that bullet and load.it put the smack down on deer and elk out to 100 yds.

I actually plan on shooting round ball out of it in the future,. The weasel says he can regulate the load so that the fast twist would allow the round ball to curve out around 50 yards so that I could shoot a deer that was hiding behind a tree. Hopefully the weasel can show me exactly how that works. I think he said it takes about 115 gr of powder and the distance has to be exact.

I'll tell you what muley - Chet bought that rifle off me. And I can guarantee you that that .45 with a .40 cal saboted bullet will outshoot any PRB shooter you have. With iron sights at 50 yds, that rifle put 3 200 gr bullets into one ragged hole more than once. And, that rifle was responsible for the mount of the biggest whitetail I ever shot. Quartering away at 80 yds busting thru the opposite shoulder of the 200 lb + buck. Aint no PRB gonna travel thru that much tissue and bone and do that much damage from that distance.
I shoot sabots out of most of my sidelocks and I don't care who knows it or what they think. |

Whatever Muley. You just go on with your mine is better than your's attitude. But either way you look at it, a saboted, jacketed bullet is ballistically superior to a PRB and therefore a better projectile.

Here's a 2 shot group with a 54 caliber 1:48 inch twist, 24 inch barrel. And it's a stinking Traditions kit rifle. The bullet, load and range is marked on the target.
![]() See chetmarks. I told you I've shot 2 shot groups so I wouldn't mess the group up with a third shot. Here's the target prior to the last one. See what happens when you take that 3'rd shot? ![]() |
