52 cal Disc Load data Help !!!!

So I am wanting to try a few heavy weight cast bullets in a sabot.
I was looking at a 525gr 45-70 bullet in a .458 sabot. My question is this, can you still run 150gr powder charges with these big bullets. I guess I am a little lost with the powder charges.I was thinking the heavier the bullet the less powder you load for pressure issue, can someone please explain.
Just thought this would be a great hog load
Thanks
Jason

I don't think a 52x458 sabot is going to support a 458 that long but i would start low and/or just shoot a big 52cal Parker conical. Ive shot some heavy loads in the 54 with a big conical and its not fun or accurate. In a 52x458 with heavy loads, i would be looking at 325-350gr Speers or FTX 458s or maybe a 405gr tops. 130gr of BH209 and a 325gr is in the 3000fpe (1950+fps) range and still has a ton of energy at 100 yards.
I bet the Barnes 300gr 458 SOCOM would be plain nasty with a hot 52cal load without as much whiplash.

You shoot a 500+ grain bullet with 150 grains of powder.. you better make sure your teeth are glued in. That would have a heck of a recoil. As for, do heavier bullets need less powder? That is sometimes true, but your rifle is the one to judge that. If you really want a nice heavy lead bullet in .458 I would try the 405 grain LEE flat point. I just got done casting some up, and they ran a little heavy as I remember. They look almost identical to a Remington 405 flat point but instead of the copper jacket are pure lead.
I think Sabotloader has some good loads for that caliber worked up. But if you need pure lead for legal hunting reasons, that's where I would look. I shoot them 405's out of a lot of inlines and usually 90 grains of powder. Anything down range of that bullet is in for a world of hurt.
