MountainDevil54 07-14-2011 07:17 PM

No problem. Im giving him an area under the classifieds so we'll have all that info up later. Guests will be able to View and respond to it as well once everything is up.

He ordered 100 lbs " or is that cans? LOL" blackhorn209 for now but later on in the year will order 200 cans.

Semisane 07-14-2011 07:20 PM

How is he getting around the hazmat thing?

Semi, do a lil research on the haz mat charge, i think you will be surprised at what you find! Sabot loader had App super powder shipped to him with no haz mat fee.

builder459 07-14-2011 08:06 PM

Also, he is not paying haz mat on each bottle, but the shipment.if a person buys a box of bullets,2 jugs of BP sub powder 1000 primers from Cabelas, they only pay a 20.00 HM fee.. not 20.00 per item... Ray

MountainDevil54 07-14-2011 08:15 PM

powder/primers cant be shipped together so if you bought powder and primers, you'll get bent over at my places by having to pay 2 hazmat fees.

You know what i meant. MULTIPLE ITEMS.i also find that strange, since bullets and powder are shipped together, when you buy factory ammo! and there in the same cartridge! Ray

MountainDevil54 07-14-2011 09:36 PM

LOL thats what you call and oxy moron. How they come up with these rules, i dont know!

lemoyne 07-15-2011 04:07 AM

Powder Valley also sells for that price [25dollars] with a 20 dollar hazmat which brings the price of a case to [10 cans]to 27 dollars a can they recently raised the price 1 dollar from 24 dollars.

SJAdventures 07-15-2011 04:45 AM

If I can get it for $27 shipped he will have my business.

sbuff 07-15-2011 05:35 AM

Has anyone placed a order yet, almost sounds to good to be true.I might try to contact the number later today.

MountainDevil54 07-15-2011 10:10 AM

Sounds fishy. Beter check this guy out first. Sounds too good to be true for you BH209 users.

MountainDevil54 07-15-2011 11:08 AM

lol nothing fishy about him. He has a gun shop and has partner ships to sell cva and knight muzzle loaders.

Carlos is a dealer with Western Powders, and by being dealer and purchasing ? worth of powder he gets a cut on the wholesale price.

I would assume he is getting it to you for $27 is because he is shipping without paying the Hazmat fees.

My local dealer with the same setup sells BH for $29 over the counter

SJAdventures 07-15-2011 12:48 PM

I called the gun shop and got the front counter but they connected me to Carlos and it is $27 TYD period. No minimums, no hazmat, no shipping.

So the real question is how he is shipping it without paying the haz mat fee? Is there a way around the system? By law it has to go ground shipment doesn't it?

No need to check him out, he's a personal friend and one of the best muzzleloader shooters I know. But if ya do wanna check him out go over to Frontier Muzzleloading and take notice of his range reports and maybe look under Hawgslayers postings and see what just so happened to show up on his doorstep unannounced. If you do look...he's that kind of guy!

hubby11 07-15-2011 05:08 PM

Can someone post a direct link to this vender. Just so we're clear, one bottle, $27, to your door.

Thanks

Here you go...

http://edsgunshop.com/

Just call them @ (910) 692-7936 to order.

a1smokepole 07-15-2011 06:30 PM

order 5 can today coast just what he said 27.00 a can shipped to your door will see was buying local at 28.99 and went up to 29.99 a can

50calty 07-15-2011 06:58 PM

Thats the same price that I buy it from Western Powders direct. Pays to have them close to where you live.

bronko22000 07-16-2011 04:32 AM

Well as long as someone knows he is on the up and up. Remember we were burned a couple time on deals that were 'too good to be true' or other scams. I didn't mean by an sense to condemn anyone. Just to be careful. But if several of you say its legit, then that's great. If I shot BH209, I'd be jumping all over this deal.

SteveBNy 07-16-2011 05:03 AM

They claim they are paying the hazmat and building it into the price. How can you do that without knowing how many cans people are going to order?
Say everyone ordered 4 (optimistic). 4 x 27 = $108. minus 20 for hazmat and at least 5 for actual ship costs. Leaves $83 or just under 21/can - little room for any profit.
At 2 cans/order, they have 54 - 25 = 29 or 14.50/can - most likely a loss.
1 can is 27 - 25 = $2/can - big loss.

Having no minimum is either a very foolish business decision or something is not right.

50calty 07-16-2011 08:27 AM

I don't think they are paying a hazmat fee. They are doing something to get around it. I pay $27 a can straight from them in Miles City MT. No shipping no hazmat. If this person is truly making a profit off of $27 then Western Poweder is truly ripping us off. That means they can make if for 5 dollars a can and rasing the price by 4x and then the company that sells it marking it up. Equaling roughly $32 a can. Something isn't right.

MountainDevil54 07-16-2011 08:39 AM

well guys they just sold out of powder yesterday. Their 100lb order will be in next week.

Chevy builds the corvette for $15,000 in parts and labor and then sells it for $75,000 +

Think about it.

When you're a dealer, you get big time breaks in price, especially when order large amounts.

Still isn't right. Think about it. $27 a can TYD no min or max. Yet when you buy Goex/Pyrodex. All websites will cut you a break in price with the more you buy yet the min for ordering is five cans. So I could see 27 a can if he set a min. I just don't see how he is making a profit on it if a person just buys one can.

MountainDevil54 07-16-2011 09:38 AM

most likely has more in the store sales than online sales so it all works out.

Gm54-120 07-16-2011 11:28 AM

I get it for that price locally from Grafs (actually $27.99 IIRC) and 4759 for only 22.99 for a full pound. Its pretty obvious to me the markup is HUGE on powders!!! Even Cabelas has sales for $24.99 a bottle once or twice a year.

I got some APP Pooper Powder online cheap too and it appeared to ship from the website/retailer. It worked great on the 4th of July. ;) Maybe it drop ships with the retailers address label from the supply house? Maybe there is a difference in what WE pay for hazmat vs what a business with a shipping account pays. ;)

Rogo 07-16-2011 12:34 PM

50Calty:

I have been buying my BH209 for $29.00 shipped for over a year. Quantity dealers get deep discounts and can afford to sell it very cheap with shipping built into their price.

pluckit 07-16-2011 01:02 PM

I'm going to Bass Pro Shop Monday after work. I'll be getting a bottle of Blackhorn for $30.00 and a pack of Pyrodex Pellets for $28.00. Plus tax that's $61.48 and I don't have to wait for it to be shipped. I might even pick up some bullets if they have something I want. Its nice to have a big sporting goods store like that within a reasonable drive. Of coarse I'll be doing a lot of browsing while I'm there too.

EndeavorShooter 07-16-2011 05:24 PM

I personally, dont care how he does it...as long as it comes to my door for 27 bucks..... Only place I can find within a reasonable driving distance is 39.95 a jug......and for a guy that doesn't shoot alot and only goes thru a couple of jugs a year......i just cant buy a case at a time to save on the hazmat fee.
So, Carlos will be getting an order from me.....

I do the same thing with a Bass Pro in my area (once they lowered the price from $45!). However, you do pay sales tax, and at least in Texas, when I order from another state there is no sales tax. So I can order BH 209 for $27 to my door and if I bought it at Bass Pro at $30 + tax I would pay a total of $32.50. That is $5.50 per bottle I could spend elsewhere. Think I will order some!
