It's BASS PRO SHOP'S OUTDOOR WORLD guy's! You don't like going there? I like going there, even if I don't need anything.

Someone earlier mentioned that it is a law that a Hazmat fee needs to be charged. I do not think it is a law. I think it is a mandate by the shippers. Just like the way they make you pay for overnight delivery of a handgun.

Second. Does anyone know what the actual Hazmat charge is?? If you notice the distributors call it a "Hazmat Fee". Not a charge. So what is the actual charge?? Probably less than we are charged.

Third. I do not know about black powder. However alot of places charge only one "Hazmat Fee". And they ship smokeless powder and primers in the same box, and with just one fee.

There are far too many games being played with shipping charges. And handling charges. And whatever charges they want to charge you.

If the guy is shipping one container of BH-209 for $27 TYD then he is not making a bunch of money on it. Regardless whether he is paying a Hazmat charge or not. Even though I really do not know what that actual charge really is. Does anyone out there really know??

Only thing I know for sure is that he obviously is not paying a $25 Hazmat Fee+plus the actual shipping, and still selling one container for $27. That just makes common sense. So obviously he has found some sort of shipping loop hole. I say good for him. And also good for you if you can buy it delivered for that price. Sort of a WIN WIN scenario. Tom.

You are right there! I tend to stop there every time I am going by it for any reason. In fact, my wife always refers to the time we came close to missing a plane because I stopped there on the way "just for a few minutes" LOL.

UPS does offer a daily shipment program. I bought a 40lb drill press and it shipped for under $6.

It is a 'fee' started by UPS and then followed by Fex Ex.

Just wanted to point out that this isn't true. I know some places rip you off and want to charge you 2 hazmat fee's, but they certainly don't have to and are just ripping you off. Infact, most of the reputable companies like Powder Valley will ship both items together under one hazmat fee.

I find myself wondering what other powders and what types of #11 caps they carry. I couldn't find anything on their website. It seems they would be good people to deal with.

Your absolutely correct.they claim the fee covers the cost to train employees how to properly handle these types of materials and special labeling. bottom line is that is pure BS, they choose to handle these products and the cost should be absorbed by them. they hide from this fact and blame it on the fed for requiring the training and labeling..sit and think about $20.00 per shipment by millions upon millions of shipments per year.( sticking it to us) sorry but this kind of thing just pisses me off. it's the type of thing the banks do to generate huge profits...Ray

Exactly. That is why I said in my post that it WAS NOT a law as was suggested in a post above. Tom.
