Jason, about the only thing you can use is .458 or .475 diameter bullets. The sabots are available from Knight, either a grey .458/52 or a purple .475/52.

The two 52's I have are extremely accurate and they can be driven very hard in in the powder department.

Here is some reading and some pictures for you....

I like either the .458 275gr Lehigh or the 325gr FTX. I never tried any of the 300gr Lehighs though or the 220gr. The 52x475 options are probably fine but there are a ton of good .458s on the market.

I really like the 52cal too if you want to shoot the larger bullets faster. The Knight/MMP 52cal sabots are extremely tough and should handle any load you can. I would have preferred Knight improve on 54s with 50cal bullets but i am very biased about the 54.

I lost my A/C at the house yesterday so this will set me back a few more weeks on my new inline.Today it is real warm down here, going to be in the 100's so as I set here sweating I am wondering if a 52 might be better than a 50?

walk into the shooting stores and see how many stock sabots for a .52

i personally think its the worse caliber to own as theres nothing available for it, store wise anyway.

Just get a TC Renegade stock and buy a green mt Long range Hunter barrel in a .54 cal. You get to use a sidelock but have the barrel with a sabot twist of 1:24. Then you can shoot a .452 bullet to a .500 dia bullet. That would be my choice. Which is why I exactly did just that. You can order the sabots of MMP. Which is seems thats what you have to do anyways.

Ever tried the 50 caliber 350 gr HP in a purple sabot in that 54? with 135 gr powder they really are a bit much for deer, you just about have to shoot behind the shoulder or it makes a mess and just through the ribs will leave a hole you have to see to believe. Love that load for bear.
