At least it is not made in some 3rd world country where the worker makes 5 dollars a day [or equivalent there off] and does it by rote cause he can not read and has problems getting things right because he is faint from hungry.

Grouse, When are you oing to be doing some more testing with this rifle. I'm really eager to see what it can do and what loads it likes. Thanks.
|
The coating is doing excellant so far. I now have 30 plus shots with 777 and hardly a crud ring at all. Back to BH209 And trying some different loads.
|
Do you still put some protective oil in that barrel when you are done cleaning like you would otherwise?
|
You shouldnt, completely ruins the point of the dyna tek bore coat.
|
Is that the only point of it, to keep you from having to use other protectants?
Is oil somehow harmful to this coating that you say it would ruin it? |
The point of it is, Reduced fouling " lead -copper ect & powder form" Easy clean up as the following has a much harder time sticking to it. Water - mud- snow - what ever will not get through the ceramic coating.
When you use oil, you remove it prior to loading, right? You just removed the oil thats there to help protect against rust and corrosion so what happens when you are in the field and stuck in wet weather? You worry about the moisture in the bore that will cause rust. With the bore coat and gun shield, throw it into a tub of water, let it soak and then put it out on a table and let it sit there and see if it rusts. Its that good of a product. Oil wont ruin the bore coat or gun shield, it just ruins the point of using those 2 items. Their slogan is " Stop oiling, and start protecting" |

No problem!
I got lost in a blizzard last year for i dont know how many hours, got home, rifle had water inside the forearm, dumped it out, set it to the side while i passed out and never a touch of rust. Its great stuff that does exactly what they say it does. |
My testing of this ML is done. I really like it a lot to tell you the truth. I really only can find two problems. The first is, i wish they offered it in a carbon stock. I much rather use a synthetic stock or the new carbon over laminate for hunting. The second is the bolt design. It's a little harder to prime then a regular Knight conversion but a lot easier then a NULA for example.
The coating has been all it's cracked up to be so far. Makes using 777 a lot easier for me. I shot about 5 shots tonight with 777 and hardly any crud ring at all. Here's a target below shot at 100yds. I was asked to try some SST'S so i did. I have a hard time using the Leupold Ultimate slam scope at 100yds. The reticle is large for shooting targets but I love it for hunting. ![]() |

The coating is very impressive to say the least. I already got one of my Elites done with it. I cant wait to see how it holds up in the bad weather. I might actually buy a cheap gun and coat it and leave it outside for awhile just to see how it holds up. Maybe even just coat a piece of steel or something might be easier and cheaper.

take a pice of flat steel clean both sides to clean metal coat one side and put in weather and see what happens this would be a good test can you say rust are not
|
eh, i like using the real deal.
|
I talked to Knight today and they are going to send me a barrel that's treated for my own test. They did tell me it has been already tested with salt water and all kinds of stuff outside already.
