That's great you found a way to make it consistent, but why in the world would you go to all that trouble when almost all-if not all other powders do not require that degree of maintenance?

Seems like a lot unnecessary work.

Have you tried that with cleaning the bore but not putting any oil? Seems to me like a clean bore is what would make the difference since you are putting oil in the bore but then you are wiping it out.

CoCajun, thats what i did in the video on my last 3 shots and the Velocity had a spread of 241 FPS.

non oiled 1919-1822-2064

oiled bore was 1860-1856-1910 A huge improvement.

My honest opinion Jon is that your really need a larger sample before you can make those kind of conclusions.
Also, while what you are doing is fine at the range, is it really practical to think about using this procedure when hunting?
Not giving you a hard time, just some thoughts I have.

american pioneer even though the velocity can be all over the place, is still accurate without swabbing/oiling. I just did this for an experiment. I plan on trying my hunting load of 90-100gr APP 2F with the 300gr Powerbelt Platinum.

[quote=Semisane;3791995]Interesting video Devil, thanks for posting. A few years back I tried oiling the barrel of my Mustang between shots and got the same results - very small spread in velocities. I also got my best groups that way.

I have a little different variation.I swab and dry the bore, then load.after loading,I lightly oil the bore.I do it for protection when hunting,as I may leave the charge in for a week or more.I am always shooting clean cold bore.

That's exactly what I do for hunting also Chasam. Load it on an absolutely clean dry bore, then an oil patch followed by a dry patch. It stays loaded like that for as long as I like. In fact, my 50 Renegade was loaded like that back in November and sits in my closet right now with a "LOADED" flag on the trigger guard.
