Scorpion PT Gold + Omega
 

I just got my sample from Harvester. They sent me the PT 260 gr, and some 270 gr Sabertooth, because he knows i'm in Colorado. He didn't know I don't shoot the ML season here, so sabots are ok for me.

I did try the Sabertooth down my bore, and they're too loose. Much looser than a Powerbelt. I wouldn't trust them to hold a tight pressure on BH 209.

However, The PT Gold fit perfect. A nice steady pressure from muzzle to powder. I'm going out to shoot up the sample now. I just got the BH 209 too, and i'll try 100gr. I'm interested in what the recoil will be. I might go to 110gr if it's not too bad.

I see no reason why the PT won't work for me. I've read too many good reviews to think otherwise. I'll shoot these then order the bullets in bulk, and the crush rib sabots. I didn't figure it exactly, but the bullet and sabot come out to about .60 cents. Pretty good compared to the rest. Especially for a bullet that I want to shoot no matter what the price was.

I shoot only PT Golds in my Accura. Thats all I shot in my Omega also. They are an extremely accurate bullet. 1" groups or less in both rifle with either the 260gr or the 300gr. They also have a 240gr PT Gold if you wanted a lighter bullet. Accuracy is the same. I shoot 110gr BH209 in both rifles with CR sabots. Recoil is nothing to be afraid of unless you have a very tender shoulder. I am 70 years old and the recoil is mild in my opinion.

Well, it turned out pretty good. I'm going to stick with it. I like everything I used today. I'll sight it in when I get the scope and my order from Harvester. I'm sticking with the 260 gr, because i'm concentrating on Muley's this year.

Yeah, I have a bum shoulder. 100gr is ok, and I might go to 110gr. I'm closing in on 69 years old.

I expect bang flop to 200 yds.

Shooting 200 yards I would go with the 300gr. More energy left at 200 yards with the 300gr. Nice to see another senior citizen still doing it in the woods. LOL!
Try the 300 with 110gr BH209, it might work better for you at 200 yards especially on a mulie. Only have whitetail here in Vermont but I believe a muley is much bigger.

Glad you like the PT's. They are an accurate bullet and you do not bust a vein in the forehead seating them with the crush rib sabot. I have shot some of my best groups on paper with them but never got the opportunity to shoot any deer with them. I gave a friend some of the 300gr PT's at the range last Saturday and he loved how they grouped.

Let us know how they work out when you get her scoped up. What scope are you going with?

Here is a 3 shot 100yd group with my Pro Hunter w/ Encore Bergara barrel with the 300PT's.

I'm experimenting with scopes. I want to try a fixed scopes. I'd rather not spend a bunch of money on my experiment. So, I ordered a Simmons Pro Diamond 4x32. I'll hunt this spring/summer for coyotes to see how it does.

If it works out i'll buy a good fixed scope. If it doesn't i'll buy a good 3x9. The Simmons was $40 at Natchez, so i'm not out much if it doesn't work.

I got a few Whitetails hanging on the wall that were wacked with a Rem 870 slug gun that had a Simmons Pro Diamond 4X riding on top of it. Its a good scope, I would just want a little more zoom out to 200yds but that's me....I like to zoom in.
