54 Mountain Stalker - Blackhorn209

In Toby B's review of his MagSpark it appears to be screwed all the way down into a FLAT (bolster?). Im not sure if that is the proper term for that part but no threads appear to be showing. Maybe a soft o-ring would have helped with the metal fatigue if it wasn't all the way in or the CVA being round in the area didnt supply enough support.
This is one of the reasons im skeptical of reviews from "paid professionals" that endorse a product including a link to the manufacturer. I enjoy many of his articles and he was on the money about my GMB54. Many times though ive been unable to duplicate some of his results. Quite a few of his claims don't even jive with the tons of reviews ive seen on the forums either. Most of his BH209 speeds appear quite inflated as an example.
His reviews of the GenI Lehigh NFPJ were glowing even though those of us that got one knew it needed a tad more work. Thanks to REAL reviews and Dave's own testing he made a better GenII. I even emailed TB about this and some other stuff but he didn't respond to the GenI part of the email or the fact he used a different vent liner.
I actually kinda like the guy even though he claims to hate the Savage. We have shared quite a few emails but i also understand how his profession can effect a review.

I am glad to hear the part that broke went forward instead of backward towards the shooter. I also wonder in the design of the drum did not play a part in this. There would be a lot of pressure moving up through the drum into the base of that mag spark. Maybe this was never considered in the design.
While the quality of material could have made a difference, I am of the firm belief that a rifle should not be drastically altered to do things it was never intended to do. Just my opinion and it means nothing. But there are limitations to every thing in this world. Perhaps you found the one for the mag spark. IN fact I wonder .... if you told the manufacturer that you were shooting black horn out of a side lock with the product if they would even honor the warranty. Just some thoughts.
